In the latest Evolute Institute podcast (in German), Dmitrij Achelrod, Co-Founder of the Evolute Institute, talks to Lennardt Hachmeister from Staysana about the profound impact of psychedelic experiences. Dmitrij shares his personal story and demonstrates how altered states of consciousness can help us gain significant insights. He emphasises the central importance of safety and integration in order to make such experiences sustainable.
In a world that is increasingly characterised by stress and high demands, more and more people are seeking new paths to personal transformation. Dmitrij Achelrod has taken this path himself and explains in the interview how psychedelic experiences open up new perspectives and can help people to encounter themselves on a deeper level.
From the corporate world to facilitating psychedelic experiences
Dmitrij started his career in the corporate world before finally devoting himself to inner exploration and co-founding the Evolute Institute. His mission: to accompany people on their journey to discover their true potential and develop a more authentic, conscious form of (self-)leadership. The Evolute Institute offers a variety of methods to support this process – from breath work, meditation and dark retreats to legal truffle retreats in the Netherlands.
Altered states of consciousness as a tool
Psychedelic substances such as psilocybin, as well as practices such as breath work, enable access to altered states of consciousness that can break up entrenched thought patterns. Dmitrij describes these states as ‘consciousness technologies’ that allow deep-seated blockages to be released and new perspectives on one’s own life to be gained. Especially for executives and entrepreneurs, these experiences often provide clarity and inner direction in a high-pressure environment.
Safety as the top priority
The safety of participants is the top priority at the Evolute Institute. All those who take part in the retreats undergo a thorough health check to ensure that consuming psilocybin-containing truffles does not pose any risks. In addition, they receive intensive preparation for their experience to ensure they get the maximum benefit from it. Dmitrij emphasises that the retreats are not just about taking psychedelic substances, but about promoting sustainable personal development.
During the ceremonies, participants are accompanied by experienced professionals who ensure a safe and supportive environment. This is followed by an important integration phase, in which the insights gained are transferred into everyday life.
Participants’ stories
In the podcast, Dmitrij shares moving stories of participants who have experienced profound changes during the Evolute Institute retreats. Many report that they have finally overcome emotional blockages that have been with them for years – whether in their family or professional lives. These experiences often lead to long-lasting changes in their lives and in the way they lead.
One particularly impressive example is that of an entrepreneur who, through the psychedelic ceremony, realised that he no longer had to play the role of the ‘tough alpha male’ to be successful. This realisation enabled him to deal with his environment in a more authentic and empathetic way, which led to a profound change both professionally and personally.
The future of psychedelic work
Dmitrij sees great potential in the use of psychedelic substances for personal development, especially in times when mental health and holistic leadership are becoming increasingly important. However, he emphasises the need for a responsible approach. Thorough preparation, safe and legal implementation, and targeted integration are essential to unlocking the full potential of this work.
