What is Evolute Institute?
Evolute Institute is a Netherlands-based personal and leadership development organization that runs two retreat programs: EvoSHIFT, a medically supervised psilocybin truffle retreat in the Netherlands, and EvoDARK, a substance-free darkness retreat in Germany. Both combine structured preparation, expert facilitation, and long-form integration coaching, and are built for people seeking clarity, connection, and lasting personal
change rather than a treatment.
Are psilocybin retreats legal in the Netherlands?
Yes. Psilocybin truffles are legal in the Netherlands and are not classified as a controlled substance under Dutch law, which is different from the legal status of psilocybin mushrooms in most other European countries. Evolute
runs its EvoSHIFT retreats at Centrum Athanor in the Netherlands under this framework. Participants purchase the legal truffles independently from a licensed Dutch seller.
Who are Evolute's retreats for?
Psychologically stable adults who are functioning well by outside measures and still sense that something important is stuck or missing. Most are entrepreneurs, executives, and leaders who have read the research and are skeptical of wellness hype. It is not for people in acute crisis. How does Evolute keep participants safe?
Through medical and psychiatric screening decided by a licensed psychiatrist before anyone is accepted, a Medical Doctor physically present in the room throughout every ceremony rather than on call, and a 1:2 facilitator-to-participant ratio. Evolute also co-authored and published a
ten-domain evaluation framework for psilocybin retreats and discloses how

What's the difference between EvoSHIFT and EvoDARK?
EvoSHIFT is a medically supervised psilocybin truffle retreat in the Netherlands, built around a facilitated psilocybin session. EvoDARK is a substance-free darkness retreat in Germany that uses extended sensory darkness for deep introspection, with no psychoactive substance involved. Evolute also offers a private version of the retreat and standalone integration coaching, so a psilocybin contraindication does not rule out the underlying work.
